Field Services
Start-Up and Commissioning
TSI provides complete Power Transformer Installation and Testing, Circuit Breaker testing, Circuit Switchers, Battery Banks and Chargers, Air Switchers, and Relays.
Service, Maintenance and Repairs
We offer a wide range of field services covering transformers and transformer components. We provide manufacturer recommended maintenance, scheduled routine servicing and component repairs, including bushings, connections, circuit breakers, electrical and electromechanical assemblies, gaskets, pumps, coolers, fans, valves, gauges, and tap changers.
Oil Handling, Processing and Analysis
Our company provides on-site oil collection services for transformers and transformer components, including HV bushings. Samples are analyzed at an accredited laboratory using the latest technology and procedures for transformer liquid testing covering Mineral, Silicon, and R Temp dielectric fluid. Each sample is tested and results are interpreted in accordance with guidelines published by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) for dissolved gases, total combustible gases, dielectric breakdown, power factor, and general chemistry. TSI then delivers to the customer a detailed report of the testing results, our interpretation of the results and recommendations for transformer maintenance or service corresponding with the result values.
Oil Filtration Processing is performed to remove moisture, particulate, and gaseous contaminants by pumping oil through a vacuum filtration system. Vacuum Oil Processing is also used to ensure that all moisture is completely removed from the transformer during installation. We use Fuller’s Earth Filtration equipment to remove acids and sludge. This process also improves Interfacial Tension (IFT), power factor, neutral number, and color.
Electrical Tests
Transformer Services, Inc. performs a complete range of electrical tests for power transformers, including:
- Insulation Resistance
- Power Factor
- Frequency Response Analysis
- Transformer Turn Ratios
- Leakage Reactants
- Winding Resistance
- Current Transformers (CT)
- CT Saturation
- CT Ratio
- Polarity Check
Test results are compared with manufacturer specifications and to guidelines set by the National Electrical Testing Association (NETA), National Emergency Management Association (NEMA), International Electric Codes (IEC) and IEEE. The tests establish a baseline for comparison with future tests. Based on the electrical testing results, we make appropriate recommendations for repairs or services to correct identified problems and get the equipment operating in accordance with manufacturer specifications. We recommend scheduling periodic electrical testing to identify maintenance and service issues. A comprehensive program of routine and preventive maintenance can prevent repairs, downtime or costly failures.
